I expect that if Carlo stays (unlikely but possible if we win the league) or Hiddink comes in we will play a 4-3-3, if Villa Boas or Mourinho come in though I would expect a 4-5-1 or a 4-2-3-1, (with Torres as the point man, which admittedly could cause problems, he always complained about the lack of support he got up front at Liverpool, going back to a system where he's the sole man up front may not be ideal). I'd like to see us continue with the 4-3-3, its a more fluid way to play, but I also want Mou back, so I'd settle for a 4-2-3-1 with 2 very attacking wingers, which is where the likes of Mata, Sanchez and Biabiany could be crucial.
As for a first XI its very hard to say at this point, with the manager likely to change and Abro likely to sink some more cash into the team, it is fair to say there could be a more than typical number of changes to the starting XI, I can say who will definitely be in it though, Cech, Terry, Luiz, Cole, Essien and Torres (and probably Neymar, Lampard and Ramires) beyond that, its very hard to say.
As to Eto'o, from what I've heard he's unhappy at Inter (particularly his family apparently) and would like to move with RM, Chelsea, Man City and Bayern Munich all touted as possible destinations. If Mou comes back to Chelsea, I'd almost put us in the lead to sign him, however, I am concerned that his signing may affect our shift to a youth focus and that fact we could miss out on a young star to sign Eto'o who despite his greatness, is at the end of his career.

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH is ready to spend another £80million this summer to bring 'sexy football' to Chelsea.
The targets are believed to include the likes of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Tottenham's Gareth Bale and Dutch defender Gregory van der Wiel.
Wesley Sneijder, Thomas Muller, Adam Johnson, Matt Jarvis, Ashley Young, Jack Rodwell, Marouane Fellaini, Luka Modric and Andrey Arshavin are other possibilities - all of who can inject pace into an ageing squad.

Huge amount of Chelsea related transfer chatter about (we've been linked in the last 24 hours with about every player in the known universe) so there is a fair amount to digest.
Firstly there is a whole raft of new midfield targets; Cesc Fabregas who is probably going to Barca (finally!) in the latest news I've heard, so a no then, Andrey Arshavin, I think that this one on the other hand has legs, despite him being an Arsenal man, there is the Russian connection, Arshavin and Abramovich worked on the Russia 2018 bid together. For Wesley Sneijder we'll certainly compete with Man U for a signature, but he's going to be expensive and we'll have a much better chance if Mourinho returns as manager. Thomas Muller, Adam Johnson and Matt Jarvis are all straight no’s, either not good enough (Jarvis) or too heavily entrenched in other big clubs (Johnson, Muller). Ashley Young is a probable no, he seems Man U bound but I reckon he should be seriously considered, as he is a good young English player (and they seem to be pretty rare at the moment!). Of the Everton pair of Jack Rodwell and Marouane Fellaini the later is a reasonably chance, a good player worth of a consideration, the former is off to a Manchester club, exactly which one I’m not sure, so no. Of the Tottenham pair, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, both are potential targets, but they will be expensive too. Marko Marin appears headed to Arsenal from what I hear, they’ll use some of their Cesc money to land him, so he probably won’t come to Chelsea, which considering that Mata, Willian and Payet have all been linked with that position seems OK to me. Finally, Cheikh Tiote, who has been linked with with us in the past, he’s good, but I’m not sure if he’s Chelsea good.
Up front, more links with Romelu Lukaku (good), Jean Christophe Bahebeck (promising), Hulk (good as well) and Sanchez (excellent). While van der Weil, who appeared Bayern Munich bound, may not be now apparently.

I think, a transfer of Arshavin would strengthen the Chelsea squad in an enormous way. Players like Malouda or Zhirkov didn't bring satisfactory results in lately, so I think, the signing of the Russian would be a very important upgrade for the flanks. The same is valid to a possible transfer of Hulk, too
Furthermore, I consider that a successor of Drogba should be found in this summer, Lukaku seems to be the same type of a player, so i think he will be one of the targets, especially as a provision for the future.
Besides of that, another box-to-box player shall come to replace the weakening Lampard in the following seasons. Candidates, which convinced me in the current season are Modric, Parker, and Raul Meireles. Modric has the best overall skills in the midfield, but would be the most expensive of these three.

I wouldn't sign Arshavin simply because of his age, though Abro seems pretty keen to sign him so its probably going to happen. I'd prefer to stick it out with Zhirkov and bring in a younger left winger, there are heaps of good options, Mata, Willian, Payet, Greizmann, Perotti and Dszudszak.
My preference for a Drogba replacement long term is Lukaku (my actual preference is to sign both Romelu and Jordan Lukaku) but immediately I think we'd be better off with Hulk. Man City have apparently offered Tevez for Eto'o (which is ridiculous Eto'o is much older than Tevez, who is also their best striker, that's specifically why I ignored the Tevez for Drogba rumor from the weekend, they may land Eto'o, we might too, but Tevez will stay at City).
As for a box to box mid, my preferences are for the likes Joao Moutinho, Kwadwo Asamoah or Steven Defour (or Essien and the signing of another defensive mid like Oriel Romeu, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, Josip Ilicic or Armin Bacinovic). Luka Modric is a great player but is not a player of great physical stature and would be expensive, Scott Parker is not of the Chelsea grade, Raul Meireles would be ideal, he's a player I would have liked to sign last year from Porto, unfortunately I don't see Liverpool looking to offload him. The big name I've consistently forgotten when considering this position is probably one of the best options, Moussa Sissoko, I would argue that his 30 million Euro buyout clause is probably worth it. McDonald Mariga has also been turned up in reports of recent days.
In other transfer speculation, PSV's Moroccan midfielder Zakaria Labyad has apparently been linked to us, RM and Arsenal. Arsenal are also looking at former (and hopefully future) Chelsea target Luuk de Jong of FC Twente.
Finally, two of my targets of interest Lacina Traore and Juan Manuel Vargas both scored on the weekend and have been included in IMS's goals of the week; http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/Goal-of-the-Week-Caetano-Reus-Traore-Vargas-Ayovi-or-Kayal-video/13425/

Zitat von Manutd78:
No, he won't. He's leaving City this summer.
Really, where do you think he's going, off the top of my head, and outside of Chelsea, where I really don't see him, there's only RM, Barca, Bayern or one of the Milan's and possibly someone unlikely like Liverpool or Corinthians or perhaps a newly petrodollar rich club like Malaga who could afford him. More importantly from Chelsea's point of view, who will replace him at Man City and what affect that may have on our striker recruitments in the summer (Aguero, Hulk, Cavani, Eto'o and Pato have all been previously linked with City and are currently under consideration by Chelsea).
On to our recent speculation, firstly there is a bit of talk going round that we may sign both Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne, and loaning the later out to Anderlecht as a ready made Lukaku replacement (ignoring the fact that the two are completely different types of players...). I've heard a concerning report that Arsenal may be interested in signing Alan Dzagoev, who is pretty much a ready made Lampard replacement, or has at least been viewed as so for the last few years, so it may be time to secure him for the future, even if he's loan back to CSKA.
Finally there is new speculation that the race for Douglas Costa is not a Man U forgone conclusion, with Man City and Chelsea both apparently considering bids and Man U's intense interest in Ashley Young, Mario Gotze, Lewis Holtby and İlkay Gündoğan, potentially leaving no spot for Costa in the new Man U. This I regard as great news, and hopefully Chelsea will sign Costa!

Dzeko was certainly the intended replacement, but he's hardly setting the world on fire, they have apparently considered keeping Adebayor, but he really wants out, as does Roque Santa Cruz, leaving them with just Dzeko, Balotelli and Jo. I can see Jo out regardless of the Tevez situation, and at least one striker brought in to augment Dzeko and Balotelli.
On to Chelsea related transfer speculation, firstly Danish striker Kenneth Zohore is apparently being scouted (this could show that we are concerned about potential competitors for Lukaku, or he's being looked at as a potential partner for Lukaku up front). Secondly there's a bit of speculation that we may go after Shinji Kagawa given Sahin it seems is likely to end up at RM.

Some more interesting observations to make in light of a poor showing against Man U. Carlo, I was a big supporter of you and would even consider keeping you if there were not options like Mourinho, Hiddink and Villa Boas available, but there are and ultimately it's time to go.
Now to transfer speculation, first of all more reports about our interest in a pair of Tottenham stars, this time Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart. Considering what a mistake it was not signing RM VDV when RM offered him to us in winter last year (admittedly they wanted Ivanovic which would have been bad), perhaps we should not miss the Dutch playmaker a second time, plus it appears increasingly likely Man U or Man City will get their man (Sneijder, though we are still in with a chance, albeit an outside one).
Nuri Sahin is all but a RM player now, which is a great shame, we've now missed out on three young Bundesliga midfielders (Sahin, Ozil and Khedira) all to Real Madrid. It also looks like Falcao will be heading to Los Blancos, so even if Villa Boas is manager next season we won't get him (Hulk though does still seem in play). There is also apparently increasing interest in England in Moussa Sissoko, believed to be Arsenal and Tottenham (and hopefully Chelsea as well!). Arsenal have also concerningly been linked with Gervinho and Lacina Traore.
On a brighter note it appears rumours of Arsenal inquiring about Alan Dzagoev may have focused the minds of Chelsea management and Dzagoev may yet be off to Chelsea, probably not next season though. Negotiations with Ajax over Christian Eriksen are also apparently progressing. Interestingly Birmingham's Sebastian Larsson and Ranger's Gregg Wylde have also been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge, neither of which I see as remotely feasible, though Larsson would make a good squad player and we undoubtedly need a few of them. Finally we have again been linked with Celta de Vigo's Hugo Mallo.

First of all the I'll deal with the elephant in the room, Kaka's mum, who claims that they're moving to London (and presumably Chelsea, I can't see him in for Arsenal, Fulham, West Ham or QPR and only Tottenham if Real Madrid were to sign Bale). I'm really unsure how I feel about this, Kaka is ageing, and will take his time to adapt to the English game, but he is still a great player, one of the best ever, I've always wanted him in a blue jersey, and though it may have come a few years to late, I'm probably still going to be happy about it (provided the source for this story, Kaka's mum is accurate).
Now to speculation that is not Kaka related, firstly the apparent competition between Chelsea and Man City over Kevin de Bruyne. Personally I favor the player he's often compared with Steven Defour or one of Palermo's Slovene pair Josip Ilicic or Armin Bacinovic, so I think Man City can have him. Another Belgian we may be competing with Man City for is Axel Witsel, and though I'm keener to sign Witsel than de Bruyne (despite his liking for attracting red cards), I think Moussa Sissoko, Kwadwo Asamoah and fellow Belgian star Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe are all more attractive options. We've been apparently linked with Fenerbahce wingback Gokhan Gonul as a replacement for Jose Bosingwa, implying that Bayern Munich may be close to a deal for Gregory van der Weil. I would personally prefer we considered young Spanish star Cesar Azpilicueta who is at Marseilles, Benfica's Maxi Pereira or Shaktar's Darijo Srna.
On the management front there appears to be a trio emerging in Hiddink, Zola and van Basten as one alternative, and Villa Boas and Mourinho as the two other options.
Finally I was wondering what others thought about the clean out at Bayern Munich that will occur with their raft new proposed new signings.

I'd have him the in an attacking midfield position, though I agree the only real spot for him in our current set up is on the right wing, I'm not sure if its exactly a done deal yet, though it would seem that Kaka's mum seems to have accidentally spilt the beans that its a reasonable chance of occurring (it would have been better to have happened two years ago, but Real got him then).
Onto some transfer speculation, firstly we are apparently monitoring yet another classy young Brazilian midfielder, this time its Guilherme Costa, who has recently been promoted to Vasco's senior squad. There is also more reports linking us to a move for Rafael van der Vaart, possibly in the region of 18 million pounds, so Spurs would make a profit on him. Also in the rather crowded race for the play making position is Lyon's young Bosnian star Miralem Pjanic (who joins not only VDV and Kaka, but also Javier Pastore, Alan Dzagoev and Paulo Henrique Ganso). Interest is also apparently very strong in Hugo Mallo, Hulk and Phil Jones.
Finally an interesting observation about the English player quota and how we may need to keep Ryan Bertrand and Michael Mancienne if we wish to reach our quota (at this point Chelsea only have 5 homegrown senior players; Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ross Turnbull, and Bertrand with Mancienne and Daniel Sturridge inclusive as of next season). We'll still be a senior English player short of the quota unless we sign one in the next transfer window.
Just on the Bayern clean out, who do you think will be shown the door?
