Thanks chelseafan87, I have heard about our interest in Lucas Moura with french RMC radio mentioning a supposed 40mn bid turned down, partly because they do not want to do business & the fact Lucas has a longer contract with hefty buy out & above all the player does not want to leave right now.
No problem, as to Lucas yeah that's pretty much the situation as I understand it, he's a seriously talented young player and there is some serious interest on our part, but if Sao Paulo won't sell and Lucas doesn't want out, there isn't really a story (we just have to keep monitoring the situation and stay in contact with the player, he will eventually go to Europe (probably) and Chelsea just need to be at the front of the line.
Zitat von Blue_RebelZ:
I've read about Guilherme, a very talented young player he seems, but for some reason I think he will be 2nd choice from brazil inputs. Even if you consider our interest on Brazilians, the first grade/choices will always be players playing in Europe(that are supposed to be immediate first team reinforcements) for some time like Willian Alex texeira etc. The second choices will be those directly from Brazil, through special talent WP.
Yeah that's pretty much how I understand we prefer to approach signing South American players (in fact all non European players really), Guilherme's still very young and with Lucas Piazon already coming there may be no spot for him. Things have gone strangely quiet regarding the Shaktar Brazilians (Douglas Costa, Willian, Alex Teixeira and Fernandinho), I don't know whether this is because Villa Boas prefers his Brazilians (Fernando of Porto instead of Fernandinho for example) or whether Shaktar is being difficult (it's not just Chelsea, other clubs who were after these guys, particularly Willian and Douglas Costa, are also looking at other options, which suggests Shaktar are not too interested in selling). I have heard that Athletico Madrid's Brazilian midfielder Elias is being considered as an Essien replacement (but considering our interest in another Athletico player, Aguero and the fact that Elias only joined in the summer window, I don't think its likely).
Zitat von Blue_RebelZ:
Read on Sky that Hicham Khalua has joined city & now with their squad. So that means Chelsea Manutd will have little chance to convince him.
Chalk it up as yet another failure this window, Khaloua looked really good from all reports, Man City is doing really well securing young stars, which is a bit concerning.
Zitat von Blue_RebelZ:
As for Gael Etock, do you have any confirmation that he has joined us?
Etock will join Sporting Lisbon on loan for a year before moving to London, when I expect another loan before he joins the main squad.
Onto today's speculation, more about column regulars, Modric, Courtois (who has 99.9% joined us), Aguero, Mata, Coulibaly, Vukusic and Pastore. Despite Newcastle's insistence that Tiote is staying, the speculation persists that he'll soon be in the blue of Chelsea. There is also further speculation about Scott Parker, this time him signing for 8 million and not a loan from West Ham. Speculation about other Essien replacements continues, including Sissoko, Matuidi and Asamoah. Villa Boas is also very interested in pursuing Di Maria.
A pair of Wycombe youngsters Jordan Ibe and Kadeem Harris are attracting a fair amount of interest from Chelsea amongst others. Costa Rica and Deportivo Saprissa striker Joel Campbell is also attracting interest after his strong showing at Copa America.
Chelsea have also secured England youngsters Josh McEachran and Ryan Bertrand to new contracts, which is a bit of good news.

The deal I think we really need to get done now is Aguero, before Tevez leaves Man City and Benzema leaves Real Madrid, if we can get that done, we'll be in a lot better shape.
Well, signing a striker this summer in my opinion depends on Real Madrid. When they start moving for another attacker, there would be space for other clubs to sign Higuain or Benzema. I don't think it depends on Tevez, who is set to leave ManCity, because this is definite since January now...
Well, today a lot of favorites in Copa America have been eliminated and due to that a lot of players could return to their clubs and get some deals done.
But I think more important than a striker is the signing of a high-quality winger. Anelka is set to leave, while AVB's decision about Sturridge's future is set to been made soon as well. While Benayoun is playing a good preseason so far (in my opinion he's doing excellent; i've been really suprised), Chelsea loses a lot of alternatives on the wing with Anelka's and Sturridge's possible exits.
As a central midfielder I think Modric is the most likely aspirant, doesn't he?
I don't see many alternatives apart from a Parker move which has been mentioned a couple of times.

Not too much new today in terms of Chelsea transfer speculation, Abramovich apparently wants final say on the signing of Scott Parker (I cannot believe this is happening, Man U have almost signed Sneijder and we've almost signed Scott Parker...?). In further ridiculousness there are reports we may move for Falcao (a bit late considering now he'll cost twice what he did last week, so I don't see it, why blow 40 million on Falcao when you could spend 50 and get Aguero, wh is probably off to Man City, and thus we miss out on another striker). The Modric saga continues (sign Moutinho and don't bother with Modric already!). Villa Boas is hoping that Real Madrid land Aguero and thus we can sign the, then surplus to requirements Angel di Maria.
We missed out on Joel Campbell, who is now at Arsenal, while Fulham are rivaling us for Kadeem Harris and Man U for Jordan Ibe. We've apparently made a final offer of 22 million to Anderlecht for Lukaku, hopefully he signs. We will compete with Arsenal for Alan Dzagoev and Hamburg for Russian U21 midfielder Alan Gatagov (damn Arnesen again!).
Finally there's a bit of talk about a possible double swoop on Inter, apparently involving McDonald Mariga and either Lucio or Maicon. Abramovich is also said to be touting Spartak Moscow's Georgian star Jano Ananidze, who almost signed with Man City last year.

I know many fans are very sure that Anelka will leaave this summer, but I think club will let his 1 season remaining contract to run down like Ballack Cole & Anelka will move to MLS or qatar. Next season or in January we'll make our moves to gradually replace some players. This summer we'll buy 2 first team players & young players will be given their chances to impress on loan or in some first team appearances, then they will be sorted out & those making cut will be kept.

I told it just by logic, PSG chasing likes of Lucas Moura Ganso etc, high profile names, do they really need to sign Anelka who is past his prime & moreover have had bitter relation with french NT, there is little sense that PSG would like him back, even though he is their former player. I'm not exactly dismissing that it won't happen, but if it happens it'll be very uncharacteristic.
As for Anelka, I think club has a policy of offering 1-2 year extension to players who are 30+, if they don't want to sign, they will be released as they will have little resale value. Club will sign players at around 22-26 years to replace them. Hence Anelka might run down his contract & then a MLS move looks a viable option.

Anelka won't go back to France, he has stated on numerous occasions he actually doesn't like it there, he's managed to make enemies of virtually everyone important in the French football establishment, let alone the French public. The MLS, particularly the New York Red Bulls (or LA Galaxy) are a real option (there are reports they'd like to see Anelka released from the last year of his contract), as is Turkey (any of the big clubs), obviously Anzhi Makhachkala and Malaga have the potential to sign him (the new Man City's) or Qatar, which has been muted in the past. I expect he may leave, unless the rumour that Drogba will be included in a swap for Modric is correct, then he may stay.
More on the striker front, Aguero is probably set to join Man City (Damn!), Falcao may yet sign with Chelsea (again for more money than we could have got him for last week). Totteham have signed Souleymane Coulibaly, which for us is probably actually rather good, they get to develop him further and if he continues on his current trajectory we can sign him in a few years.
Old Red Nose may have saved us, in a recent interview SAF stated on a Sneijder move to Man U, "Forget it...we are looking at some things but I am not so sure Sneijder will be easy to get...I could pick three or four players to come in but they wouldn't be good enough for us, so there is no point." Now provided SAF is not just playing coy with the media he has given us a golden opportunity to rectify a serious issue, let them have Modric...GO and sign Sneijder, Villa Boas, or Roman!
Onto further speculation, there's more about Modric, Alan Gatagov and the star Brazilian trio of Lucas Moura, Paulo Henrique Ganso and Casemiro, with PSG and Anzhi's bids knocked back for Moura and Ganso and Ganso and Casemiro respectively, both Chelsea and Man U are apparently considering upgrading their watching brief, as they continued their long term interest in the players, into possible bids.

Zitat von Manutd78:
I don't see a chance for Chelsea to sign Sneijder. Of course Ferguson claimes this transfer might be hard to succeed, but come on...All these statements from Ferguson are filtered by the United press office. It's just impossible to hear something, which is rich in content, about possible transfers from Ferguson in a transfer window (apart from his desinterest in signing Neuer after Champions League game against Schalke, which is explainable, because United had come to an agreement with de Gea a couple of weeks before and Bayern Munich (they have been important as contenders for signing the german goalkeeper) made a request before, whether United would be interested in Neuer and they said "no".).
Sneijder is still very likely, from what I've heard (and if nothing changed since yesterday), so the Blues actually have no chance to sign him.
Yeah that was more hope than anything else from my end (we can still hope :( ), from what I've heard Man City is probably the only obstacle now to Man U's signing of Sneijder, Inter are apparently holding out to see Man City's new offer (Man City has apparently gone completely postal... seeking to Man U to Sneijder, RM to Aguero, Chelsea to Lukaku and they're also after Alberto Aquilani and Ezequiel Lavezzi...oh and they want 47 million for Tevez!). Arsenal on the other hand have lost the ability to sign players they thought they had already signed as Costa Rican youngster Joel Campbell's management (his father) rejected Arsenal's terms for an apparently superior offer from another PL club (presumably Man City :D ).

Apparently AC Milan and Genoa are talking about a move for Lucas, but given the muted 40 million bid from Chelsea (it is unclear as to whether or not that is just speculation or there was an actual bid at this point) and a large rejected bid by PSG, it is clear a lot of money will be needed to make Sao Paulo part from their young star (hopefully we'll find the cash to sign him). Casemiro' s price won't be quiet as steep as Lucas Moura's however there is competition there from an Inter Milan that will soon be flush with Sneijder cash.
Onto today's speculation, the usual suspects, Pastore, Modric, de Rossi, Lukaku with their transfer sagas continuing. Paulo Henrique Ganso's transfer speculation heated up with Man U, AC Milan and Chelsea all looking to bid at around 25 million for the player.
As for potential replacements for Michael Essien, the usual names, Sissoko, Matuidi, Asamoah, Tiote and Odjidja-Ofoe have been joined by Arturo Vidal (who I still believe is Bayern bound, despite recent speculation to the contrary involving not only Chelsea, but also Arsenal and Juve) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (whose name has only come up because of our previous interest and Milan's current interest...though that's not to say i wouldn't like to sign him).

Zitat von Manutd78:
Well, this is an interesting story...A couple of weeks before I heard from two (!) insiders (one of them connected with Bayern Munich) that Vidal and his agent have come to an agreement with Bayern to join them (and no other club).
Jupp Heynckes, former Leverkusen, now Bayern Munich coach, who is a wise guy, a true gentleman and a very polite man, claimed that Vidal is going to follow him to Bayern this summer and from an insider (I told you, he's connected with Bayern and I'm not lying) that Bayern management did not give a damn about all these speculations, so I've been quite convinced over the last couple of weeks that Vidal is going to be a central midfielder in Munich next season, at least because I know that Arsenal tried to land for Vidal and failed because his agent (!) denied any possibility for signing him.
But today, and I don't know if you recognized/read it, many italian newspapers announced an almost done deal, which is going to be completed on friday...ehm....what the hell?
I'm not sure what's going on there, honestly, I just don't know.
It's hard to say, Arsenal was certainly rejected, but by all reports Juve are close to closing a deal for Vidal, I don't seriously think we're in with a shot, but it looks as though Munich may miss out too.
Zitat von Manutd78:
what? first time I read about that. I thought they'd be close in signing Nasri. Oh no, come on...please let this be a false information/rumour. Honestly, United can't purchase a bidding war with Man City (at least nobody can (apart from this new russian Man City)). Hope you're wrong with that.
May I ask who claimed that?
There's been a bit of talk about it in a few papers, (ranging from the very dodgy to the usually pretty accurate) but it was actually a friend of mine in the media who i was talking to about the comments by Ferguson, he added that perhaps SAF was resigned to not getting Sneijder because Man City were going to include Tevez, that has since been ruled out and there's talk of a straight cash deal, Man City have apparently been unimpressed by Arsenal's stalling over Nasri and (according to some reports Robin van Persie).
Zitat von Manutd78:
40 million what? Pennies, peas? Did I miss that he proved himself in Europe?
Just must be joking or this is mad! If Chelsea is ready to pay 40 million pound for that guy, who is just 18 years old, did not prove himself so far and is just "another highly rated next Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo or whoever", then football transfers reach another step of madness this summer...
It is too much considering his lack of European experience, problem is with all these new big money clubs around, Malaga, Anzhi, PSG, Man City (yes I realise we're the original billionaires' play thing, but we'd achieved some things before Roman's money arrived, what have Anzhi or Malaga ever done?) the prices for untested foreign talents are now astronomical. Hell, we spent 75 million in the winter window, that's roughly two reasonably competent Europa League teams worth of players on just Luiz and Torres, and we (at least most Chelsea fans, and some in management) see a need for another big spend 70 million +, just to be competitive in the domestic league and probably 100 to 150 million to have a Champions League winning squad, football today is a rich man's game.
From what I've seen of Lucas Moura, he looks the real deal, at least in Brazil, whether that can be translated to European form is an open question.
To today's speculation, not very much, which is a bit surprising, just a bit on another bid for Lukaku, more on the Modric saga and the possibility that we may ignore the buyout clauses and try to sign Hulk and or Falcao (using the principle that buy out clauses are apparently only contractually recognised in law in the country in which they are written, which offers a glimmer of hope that we might get a reasonable price).
